| The Boogiemen - official
releases
Unenjoyment - October 16, 2009

Mostly instrumental EP released in celebration of Kevin's 10
months on unemployment (and counting). The digital download includes album cover art and
comes in a MP3 or MP3 & FLAC download.
Primer - April 7, 2009

After recent revisions to the website were made, it occurred
to us that the chronological MP3 list could be a bit overwhelming to someone
new to our music. The "Primer" digital download compilation was
created to make life easier for new fans to get a broad sampling of our
music. The digital download includes album cover art and lyrics, and
comes in a MP3 or MP3 & FLAC download.
Sucking the Soul From Soul - January 23, 2009

Bigness was a bit of a drain on Kevin, who does most of the
writing and production work for the project. In an attempt to get his
mind onto something else, he started tinkering with some dissonant chords
one day (with the amp cranked to 11). "STFU"
was the result, largely inspired by the new aggressive Rush instrumental
"Malignant Narcissism" (from Snakes and Arrows).
It was soon after completing "Plays
Me" in January 2008 that Kevin reached out to Scott. The
Boogiemen were heading into unchartered territory, and it was unlikely Scott
would be interested in the direction things would likely be heading.
Scott agreed and considered using the time away to focus on some of his own
interests, knowing what had been accomplished in a few short years in the
project was immense and something to be proud of.
Over the next month Kevin would start to listen to more
heavy metal in his spare time. Fate also landed him into a bass
playing role with a fledgling local progressive jam band (Foxhole Prayer).
But after a few months the band drifted apart and the momentum was gone,
leaving Kevin alone once again to ponder music at his personal computer.
Then when hiking one day he had a vision of doing a parody
of stereotypical funk/R&B/soul, and
Sucking the Soul From Soul (song) was born. It was many months
until the song itself was written and recorded (in one afternoon), but the
inspiration when hiking that day helped to move the project forward and to
completion of this record.
Unlike any previous recordings, most of StSFS is heavy.
Kevin's production skills were up to the task of making a fat but not
overblown album. He also took the lead playing role when needed, as he
could only find room for Lew to appear on "Descendt".
Unlike many prior Boogiemen recordings, StSFS doesn't always fall into
formula of having leads in longer musical interludes. It's a feel
record. Like a punch to the gut.
Bigness - November 2, 2007

Bigness marked the beginning of a new direction for the
project. Scott Watts took the helm as official singer and songwriter.
Bigness is the culmination of 1 year of recordings and numerous long
distance production feats (tracking vocals in California --> New York for
production).
Mostly lost was the tongue and cheek humor that was the
cornerstone of the project for the years prior. Instrumentals were
still Kevin and Lew's time to experiment ("Bigness",
"Arouse", etc), but on
a whole this was a more accessible and polished sound.
Signature melodic rhythms and blues infused lead parts act as the glue that
retained that wholly Boogiemen sound. Contrasting with Scott's often
Neil Young-esque vocal style, this combination hatched some unique results
as heard on "Hallow Way"
and "Yearbook".
There are still CDs available at $3.00 shipped.
Previously only available to purchasers of the album were the MP3
files for the music from Bigness, which is now on the website for free
download.
A collection of short things - June 1, 2006

This was the first official internet release for The
Boogiemen. It was a 'Best Of' spanning 2001-2005 and was released at a
time when the future of the project was unknown.
The first 3 years were highly productive. There was a
lot of material recorded that never survived the cut and were never posted
on the web. Just on the website alone there are 27 tracks during this
time frame, plus the Rudy Strooglitz page. That's quite a bit of
output for a very part time project.
